Mercruiser, Saab Iveco, Volvo Penta, VW, and Yanmar Why get a retune? For the Motor Boat owner a remap means much better control, improves acceleration, and increased fuel economy. Gains of between 5 - 15 % in MPG, 25 - 30% increases in power and 8 – 15% improved fuel consumption are not uncommon when remapping a Motor Boat engine. We can remap nearly all engines that have an ECU and most of these can be modified using the vehicle diagnostic port. This means that there is no physical sign of altereation and therefore your warranty remains intact. Why is having a full remap a better option than getting a plug-in tuning box? There are many companies that are offering plug-in tuning boxes. However when trying to gain better performance from your engine, a full remap is irrefutably the better option. A tuning box sends false sensor values throughout the complete rev-range. This tells the ECU that there is not enough fuel entering the engine, the ECU then over-fuels in order to gain performance. This leads to faster fuel consumption, with the recent tax changes on marine fuel this therefore means a much lighter wallet.Although performance gains are made with a plug-in tuning box, they are at the cost of high emissions, higher engine temperatures, and general abuse of the engine. This may result in poor running, black smoke emitting from the exhaust, clogged injectors, rough idle, and engine cut-out. Also over fuelling can result in bore washing which will dramatically reduce the life of any engine.When looking at the cost of a full remap compared to a plug-in tuning box, don’t think purely on the cost of the upgrade itself. The future costs that may be incurred through installing a plug-in box are considerably higher than that of a full remap. In fact a full remap creates better performance throughout with increased fuel economy. In the long run a full remap will actually save you money, not cost you more.A full remap will take into account all factors and will deliver much smoother performance with much better gains and again the key thing is this is all dealt with in a completely safe way. Please contact your nearest DNA Tuning Approved dealer for more information. The figures above are intended as a guide, as each boat will differ due to general wear and tear, you will usually see better performance on a well maintained car and our dealers will carry out a full diagnostic check before applying the upgrade for your peace of mind. All the boats existing safety features remain in tact and the software is undetectable to main dealer access. If at any time you sell and wish to remove the software we will do this at no cost although the software will add to the value if you quote it is DNA Tuned! Any of the upgrades will be changed to suit the brief of the customers requirement, if you have any specific requirements please ask. All DNA Tuned software comes with a lifetime warranty on the software. An additional Mechanical Warranty is available, please enquire for further details.
