Matthew Casey Audi RS4
The remap you've provided to optimise the hardware set up I have on the car is superb. The immediate, instant torque in the low rev range translates into real world street car acceleration. The 4.2 V8 FSI is a very high rev engine and often you were waiting for the kick after 5500 rpm's for serious pace. Now I have very respectable acceleration in the lower rev range. Perfect city and out-of-town driving. The car feels so much stronger with acceleration across, virtually the entire rev range. 1st,2nd gear's were always good in the RS4, but you hit 3rd and you had to wait for the rev's to rise before you feel real acceleration, now 3rd gear is right on where it should be. It pulls straight away. The car builds constantly builds phenomenal speed, approaching illegal limits all too often. The speed gets away from you, and I am constantly monitoring my speed. The torque is so evident and overwhelming that small and/or large inputs on the loud pedal translate into real world acceleration. Now that's a great remap. The car is responsive, eager and edgy with a nasty growl from the GMG cat back exhaust. There is a lovely overrun burble on trailing throttle. The remapping has really optimised what is possibly one of the best mass-produced small block V8 engines produced. You got love ya AUDI's. John certainly has a passion and depth of knowledge to transform my once relatively aggressive Audi RS4 into an absolute street weapon that has some serious attitude. I am most impressed with the support and service John has provided me, considering I live in Australia. Amazing results. Regards Dr Matthew Casey Casey Dentists
Joanne Bott VW Beetle V5 Hi, i would just like to say thank you for the remap you did on my vw beetle v5 , i had it done at the beginning of the month and since having it done have noticed a big difference in the drive, its made it much more responsiveand easier to drive,it has lost its flat spot. i would like to thank John,Emma, Ed and the rest of the team for making my car much more fun to drive and making us feel welcome. We had a great dayout and my son loved looking around at all of the race cars. thanks again to everyone at DNA tunning and i will definatly be recommending others to come and visit you for a remapp.regardsJo, Mark and Sam

Just wanted to say a few words about the great job you all did at the DNAtuning open day at EJM Preparation and of course the magic you preformed on my 2.0l Beetle. Having never had a car re-mapped before I didn't know what to expect from the car after having it done, but as soon as I got to drive it after the re-map I could feel that the car was more responsive and gave me the power in a more controlled way. Having read some of the reviews on the DNA website and the Evvo forum I knew I wasn't going to get a massive increase in BHP although 14bhp increase I did get is pretty good but with the car being more of a daily driver I was looking more at the cost saving benefits of the re-map and after completing the 165 mile trip back to Suffolk it was clear I had made the right choice in visiting John, the trip up to EJM Preparation used just under 2/4 tank of fuel while the return trip used just over a 1/4 of a tank!!!!! To say I'm pleased with the result of my re-map would an understatement; I would highly recommend both DNA Tuning and EJM Preparation for any New Beetle owners out there without a re-mapped ECU just speak to John and get it done you won't regret it. Thanks again John, Emma and EJM. James
James, Torquay VW New Beetle 52 plate - 2.3 V5 SE - Black
Well like many others on here I went up to Alcester today to have the V5 remapped, arrived a bit earlier than planned, but was offered a lift into Stratford so me and the wife could spend some money (why oh why did Debenhams have a 20% off weekend!!!) and the process was explained to me by Chris, he rang me a couple of hours later, picked us up told us what they had done etc etc gave me the keys and we were on our way!
Wasnt really too sure what to expect having never had a car mapped previously, but the initial difference was noticeable, pulling away from Johns place it was instant throttle reaction and as I made my way back to Devon I was able to put it through its paces, and previously if you floored it, it would pick up, get to about 4000 revs and all of a sudden it woudl kick you in the back and go like a rocket very similar to a turbo, but now that pulling power is there from the off, and it gives a great constant delivery of power from initial pulling away right the way through to the red line.
I noticed on my way up last night keeping a constant 70mph speed the car was sitting at just under 4000 revs all the way up, on the return this afternoon, that has dropped down to just over 3000 revs due to the additional power being released for less throttle, on the way up, I filled it up to the brim, and covered the 200 miles using just over 1/2 a tank of fuel, I filled up leaving Alcester and after the same 200 mile journey, the car is sitting between 1/2 and 3/4 so a noticeable difference in fuel usage, will fill it up later in the week again and will get an accurate MPG reading to compare before and after remap on the same journey types etc to confirm that the fuel economy has already improved, if that is the case then the outlay of the map wil hopefully be recouped over the coming months.
Overall, very pleased so far, the car does feel totally different, improved torque, throttle response is now instant, power delivery is smooth and constant throughout the rev range and hopefully the mog has improved.
Anyone else on here who has a V5 and is considering having it done, dont delay its the best money you can spend on your car and allow John to unleash the potential of your excellent engine!
Well chuffed and have a rather large smile on my face now!!!
Thanks for working the magic on the car, and hopefully will be back in the future with any other cars that I might have!
And also if you read this John, can you pass on my thanks to Chris, he seems like a really nice bloke, he also seems to enjoy his job and that came across in the way that he dealt with us!
Just one question though, it seems to me that the town and surrounding area of Stratford seems to have loads and loads of Beetles, including I noted the yellow TDI that is for sale on here currently reg started BT53 and down here we have only ever seen one other V5SE and that was silver, yes we managed to see another V5SE in black identical to ours in Stratford as well!!
Sorry for the waffle, but am one happy bunny at the moment!!! Car is off for a couple of body repairs and some paint next week then I think that will do for the moment spend wise on the car!!!
Once again, many thanks, James.
Jeremy Beetle 2003 VW NewBeetle 1.8 Turbo Having read the reviews from previous customers of John@DNA , I thought a remap sounded a good idea, but like many, I was a little sceptical. Would it harm the engine, damage the transmission, mash the electrics or hammer the ECU... Well, during numerous emails to John, asking loads of questions, I realised he knew his stuff and that firmly put my mind at rest - We'll do it! So a trip up to John's head office at www.ejmpreparation.co.uk in Alcester was arranged. We met Edward, at EJM, who dropped us in town to get a spot of lunch, then picked us up two hours later - Jeremy was done and ready to go. The first thing I thought was "Have I been driving around with the brakes binding on for the last five years?" That's how different it feels. Acceleration is so much smoother, gear changes merge more cleanly, it pulls and keeps pulling and it even sounds more powerful too. Mid range torque is most impressive, making overtaking so much safer, just press and go - down shifts are optional. To say you get pushed back in the seat is an understatement, oh and those head rests now get some use... saving the neck muscles. Apparently fuel consumption doesn't suffer and should even improve, which I can believe because you need less throttle input when driving normally. One day I'll put that to the test... In the meantime, if you've got a turbo under your bonnet, what are you waiting for, unleash the horses that lie sleeping there!
Marc VW Golf V5 Hi John. Just a note to say - Thanks for setting up the Golf. The difference was immediately noticeable in that the throttle response was a lot sharper . A big thanks for getting rid of the flat spot. The acceleration in 5th from 70+ is just lovely! You've made a smooth engine even smoother !!

I first heard of John and DNA on the V5 forum and after a few emails and phone calls I arranged to take my car up to Stratford for a remap. He had the car for a couple of hours and I had a pleasant wander around the town. On the way home I was grinning; it felt like a new car. I can't believe I owned the car two for years before I found out about this. Its not so much the power as the smoothness of the acceleration and I just can't help blipping the throttle at every chance. Fuel economy hasn't suffered either which is a bonus. Overall a great job from a really nice guy. Thanks John.

Having owned my turbo for almost two years, i've contantly toyed with the idea of getting the engine remapped. So just over a couple of weeks ago i went to sunny Stratford to see Dr John so he could have a look at my car. I've never had a car modified before and like most owners it is my pride and joy, so having heard so many positive reviews from fellow buggers i felt more than happy to leave my car with John.
After dropping my car off with John i took the missus for a look round Stratford for a couple of hours (great way to earn brownie points whilst having your car tuned) i got a call from John to say it was all sorted and that he had also conducted a full diagnostic check of the car.
Unfortunatly on my trip to Stratford i managed to get a nail in my tyre, but John helped me out with changing it. With that done i jumped back in my car and i haven't stopped smiling since!
I knew my car was fairly quick before but there was turbo lag and the feeling that there was more to the engine. Following the remap the car pulls incredibly in every gear, its pushes you back in the seat. It certainly suprises people at the lights. Best of all the fuel economy hasn't suffered as a result.
I haven't got a clue how John did it (i think it was witchcraft) but my car now feels totally different to drive and goes like the clappers!
If you want a smile on your face, go see John and get your engine remapped, you will not regret it one bit. Best modification ever!
Once again, cheers John
Neil Roberts VW Passat 1.9TDI PD130
Power delivery and torque are noticably increased, overtaking is much easier, and I've not to date noticed any sacrifice on economy. So it has given my car a whole new lease of life, and explaining it to others it seems best described as adding 1/2 litre to the capacity.
James Middleton Golf V5
John, Just a note to say thanks, all is well following my remap on the 16th, the car has a useful extra surge of midrange torque and is certainly smoother. It’s still averaging 32MPG, but seems to reward a steady cruise with more – I can’t say how much as it’s not been on a decently long trip yet, and I’ve not got a trip computer to tell me! It’s going down to Goodwood a week on Friday, should be fun : ) Thanks again, James
Ian Hadley Ibiza PD130 After suffering immobliser problems with my seat 130 tdi sport i decided to take it to john to sort out and thought while i was there a remap would be a good idea.Must say im very impressed with how smooth and responsive it has made the car. The car was quick anyway but with the remap overtaking is so much easier and the car is quick enough to surprise many so called performance cars. Normal town driving is just as easy as before but when you put your foot down and the boost kicks in it really takes off and pushes you into the back of your seat. Remap prices are very reasonable and money well spent. John certainly knows his stuff i can highly recommend his services.
Louis VW Golf 2.3 V5 170bhp Just got back from seeing John today, he kindly remapped my V5.
What a difference it has made. Down the M40 doing 80/90mph, tap the throttle and my head was hitting the headrest!!!! Pulls through every gear and makes the ride even better! Oh and the sound have got even better!
Have not had this much fun since i 1st drove it about a year ago. Anyone who is thinking of having it done. DO IT!!!! Only took an hour. John is 10 min walk from the town centre were there are loads of shops and a Starbuck!
John is a top bloke! Even let me take it round the block without paying! lol

I've owned the car for over a year when a meeting with John gave the chance of improving the power and its delivery for my car. At first i wasn't sure if on my car it would make much of a difference but i was wrong. Within a day of chatting the remap was done and ready to be tried out. Just going through the gears at a normal speed the power is so much smoother and gear changes totally different, and the throttle response greatly improved. I thought with the engine getting bit more of a work out the petrol would last about 10 minutes but efficiency has been improved now and it also runs solely on Tesco 99 octane. This is a must for anyone who wants an improved drive and John really knows what he's doing. Drop him an email and see what he can do for you and your car
Mark West VW Passat 1.8T
I've just picked up my 1.8T Passat from DNA Tuning. John had the car for most of the day as I didn't need it. When I collected the car, a quick zip round the block immediately showed the difference a few hours in the hands of a professional can make. The car is much perkier, the throttle response is crisper and smooth right through the rev range. The turbo is smooth, but more urgent, really being used to it's true potential. A week on and the grin factor is still there and best of all the MPG is at least as good as it was before tuning - what a bonus! John's a very friendly chap - a big part of the reason I choose to take the car to him as opposed to anyone else - he's also very local. I had a conversation on the phone with him first, and then a face to face conversation before arranging a date for the work. It's rare these days to find someone who really knows their stuff and is happy to give good (and honest) advice before you even spend any money. I would thoroughly recommend John and DNA Tuning - drop him a line now.

After finally buying a 1.9TDI Beetle....(with a little help from my bug mad partner), I was more than happy with my new purchase. However being a lass with a need for speed (plus i already have the occassional luxury of driving a Turbo Beetle that has already been re-mapped at DNA Tuning) I knew that my bug would have to visit DNA Tuning! As factory standard the Diesel Engines responsiveness was satisfying but didnt exactly set the world on fire with its 100BHP. Following its visit to DNA Tuning the difference was instantly noticeable and as soon as my foot hit the accelerator it was off. The car had gained 33% increase in power and is alot Torque'er through all the gears and now doesn't require as many gear changes to pull away when needed. The car cruises better on the motorway and pulls like a train from low down the rev range and is also returning better MPG. I would highly recommend DNA Tuning and the remap they carried out on my car to anyone. So what are you waiting for?
Ray Millward Jnr VW Beetle 1.6
Before talking to John and others on the New Beetle forum i thought the 1.6 performance i was getting out of my car was about as good as it gets. Untill john chipped the ECU on my car. Now the response time is so much better you can really feel the car wanting more and theres just soo much more poke in the gears. Thanks John !!

After many weeks of pestering I finally managed to get John to venture into the world of BMW Tuning, knowing John's massive experience with Volkswagen normally aspirated tuning I wasn't prepared to let anyone else touch my latest run around and my feelings were well rewarded with what I can only describe as fantastic results. My straight six 2.0L now feels like a much bigger engine, power response is smooth and purposeful, I can only say thanks to John and giving me that DNA feeling! :)

I was lucky enough to receive a custom DNA remap after being selected as one of the Performance Tuner magazine competition winners. My car had already received various modifications and I was impressed by the lengths John went to ensure the remap was compatible with them. Before the remap the car was grunty but smoked heavily under hard acceleration. After the remap the smoke has all but disappeared. The car is noticeably more powerful. First, second and third gear give a real wallop in the back whilst fourth and fifth now provide effortless in-gear acceleration.

After owning my 2.0L new beetle for nearly a year, the only issue I had noticed was the slightly jerky gear changes and sluggishness in acceleration in certain gears. After reading about DNA's services, and reviews by other new beetle owners, I discussed what could be done for my bug with john at great length. He explained what would be possible with my engine, and what gains I would experience. I left my bug with John for a few hours and when I got it back, the difference was amazing. Even though it is a 2.0L (no turbo) the increase in power was noticable and gear changes were smooth. The acceleration response was immediate, and as a whole, my car was just fun to drive!! I'd recommend a DNA remap to all 2.0L owners, just do it!!

I took my bug to John after talking to a few People who had already had this done and how amazed they were with the difference of the performance of their car. I was a little unsure if it would make any difference to my lil buglet but I noticed the difference instantly!
Taking her out after John had worked his magic I noticed how smooth the gear changes were and on taking her on a long trip up the motorway I noticed the change in fuel consumption too its so much better which is always a bonus on my little adventures when I take the wrong turning and get lost.
I would recommend anyone to go and see John to have this done on their car

After being reccommended to DNA Tuning by my sister, i decided it was going to be the first 'mod' that i carried on on my Golf 1.8t GTi. i'd noticed a slight lag in acceleration from 4th to 5th and hoped that the tuning would sort this for me. I wasn't dissapointed the handling of the car was vastly improved, the lag was lost and the extra bhp was really noticable, great for a debadged golf at the traffic lights. i'd reccomend getting this done to anyone and infact already have...John expect a few phonecalls mate.
Peter VW New Beetle 2.3 V5
Being that my car is normally aspirated a re-map would not give me massive power gains that a turbo diesel or petrol engine would give. Talking to and e-mailing John at DNA I relised that power gains are not the only thing a re-map would give. I had a DNA re-map and straight away noticed the difference, pulling away is now smooth and un-juddery and stays smooth throughout rev range. the throttle response is now instant and accelerates better when cruising at motorway speeds, spot on for overtaking. As for me having a V5 engine, the engine note is now more noticable at higher revs and sounds fantastic. For those considering a re-map on an N/A car I would recommend a re-map and recommend DNA as the company to use.

Having Stumbled accross DNA Tuning on a link from a website, i decided that i'd love to get a bit of speed from my newly aquired 1.9TDI New Beetle, after many exchanged emails with me quizzing John (like only a girl knows how), i convinced myself it well worth the cash...took the Bug to see John one afternoon, after being told that Stratford town centre was only a walk away (shopping yay!) dropped my beloved car in his very capable hands and set off for the 5 minute walk. after a couple of hours i had a call to say that the car was ready and he'd pick me up (bonus..the shopping bags were rather heavy at this point) got into take him for a spin and instantly noticed a difference, being a girl who's not really got a sharp eye for cars and their performance, i was surprised that i could notice such a remarkable improvement in speed and handling especially through the gears, there used to be a slight lag in 4th but after tuning it disapeared and the acceleration was greatly improved. Would highly reccomend Johns services, I even got a cuppa.
Mark Oakes VW New Beetle 1.8T Cab
Having had a number of New Beetles in the past the Turbo Cab was my first Turbo’d car and although the car in its standard form was not exactly slow it certainly didn’t set my world on fire! My first mod was to get the car remapped and fortunately I managed to stumble across John@DNA by pure accident and what was even better is that he is based in my home town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Having had previous un-successful dealings with other Tuning Companies I was rather apprehensive about trying another tuner but John soon put pay to all my concerns and re-assured me my car was in safe hands. Within a couple of hours of working his magic on the ECU my Cab was absolutely transformed. He had taken a car that was pushing out a standard 150bhp and turned it into a mean 200+bhp monster! The car now has the performance to match its looks and has stunned a few people at the traffic lights. The car is so responsive it is an absolute joy to drive as the turbo seems to keep pushing throughout the rev range. The beauty of my DNA Tuned Bug is that nobody knows that you are hiding a 200bhp-power house under the bonnet. I cannot recommend John & DNA Tuning highly enough, he has years of experience in tuning and this certainly shows when you visit him or chat over the Internet. So what are you waiting for……

I took my bug to John after talking to a few very happy customers who had recently had thier beetles chipped - and there is no better reference for a company than word of mouth ...
To trust a person with your money and your beloved car takes some doing - and as soon as i met John i knew he was a very trust worthy and honest person, which with some companies you do not get, and most important of all he was polite.
My beetle is now a totally different car, what he has done i don't know but it is fantastic! Being the 1.8t it was already quite quick, but did lack a certain feeling of being thrown back in your seat - but now its rather silly!! The boost is so prominant for much further along the rev range than it was previously and is much more aggresive.
Without actually being in a chipped 1.8t bug you cant imagine the difference it makes - but the change is amazing!
I strongly recomend anyone (especially with a 1.8t car) to visit John - you won't be dissapointed.
Lucy , Bristol VW New Beetle 1.9TDi 90PS I took my 1.9 TDi Beetle to John at DNA Tuning a couple of weeks ago and the difference it has made is astonishing. The Bug was not slow before, but he did have a couple flat spots and there was a fair amount of turbo lag at times. Since the remap, the power is instant and there is little lag from the turbo when you put your foot down. The reponse from the engine on the motorways is istant, making over taking a pleasure. Around town my Bug is now lively, and you can really feel the extra power when you put your foot down in any gear.
I have since taken my Bug around a small test track and the extra power in the lower gears made it much more exciting and responsive.
John answered all the questions I asked him in a way that I could understand, and didn't try to confuse me with technical jargon. He also somehow managed to fix a completely unrelated central locking problem at the same time without knowing it!

John at DNA Tuning worked his magic on my bug installing a new chip. I'm afraid i can't remember how the Bug used to feel, but now i feel there is more of a response when the accelerator is applied. Having recently taken the Bug to a test track i was able to get to 129 MPH. Albeit i was driving around in circles for quite a while. Before my Max Speed was 112 MPH. I realised before i had it done that the acceleration would not be greatly improved as the Bug is just a 1.6 but having said that. John at DNA Tuning gave the Bug a new lease of life. It even sounds a bit meatier too. From a non engine management side of things. John at DNA Tuning obviously knows his stuff and if ever the possibility arises to meet him. He is genuinely one of the good guys. I had done my research before contacting him and to be honest was amazed at some of the work he has done. Needless to say, here's another positive to add to the portfolio.
